Happy Thanksgiving

Today is not only a day to enjoy family, football, and good food. It is a day to say thanks for all the blessing in our lives. A day to say thanks to all the service members serving far from their families keeping he country safe. A time to thank all the public service employees keeping our cities safe. This was Angel's first Thanksgiving and a time for mommy and daddy to eat some great food. She is still to young to really enjoy it. Can't wait until next year. Happy Thanksgiving to everybody and may God Bless you all...

First Family Trip

                                           Blackberries ( Eureka)
                                                Dad's grave (Chico)
                                            Grandpa (Fairfield)

                                                Friend (Fairfield)
                                              Us ( Shasta Dam Redding)

Our trip started out here and San Diego in September and took us on a whirl wind tour of California. We started out driving up to San Jose to visit a couple of friends for a night. After that we took a trip through San Francisco to see the Golden Gate Bridge. While being stuck in traffic for a couple hours downtown we could see the fog rolling in. By the time we got to the bridge it was so foggy that we could not see anything. So we continued up the coast to Evelyn's house for about a week. We did some fun things while there such as fishing, swimming, and Comz got her first taste of picking fresh blackberries. She enjoyed running around picking them fresh off the plants. So it was on to Redding to visit with her aunt Carmen for a couple of days. The first night was spent at the local high school watching Carmen's daughter playing volleyball. While we were there we went to Shasta Dam. It was such a nice day there and we could see the whole area. It was so beautiful there. It was on to Chico for a brief but especially important stop to the Chico Cemetery to visit my father’s final resting place. It had been so many years since anyone had been there. It felt good to be there and show our respects to him. Finally we were on to Fairfield to visit my grandfather and her friend Maribel. It was great to drop in and see how well my grandpa was doing. He was happy to see his great granddaughter and Comz. He told us it was nice to see them but not me. Ha ha ha, what a joker. He is in great spirits for a man well into his 90s. We stayed the night at Maribel's house and went to a great steakhouse for dinner where they got up and enjoyed a line dance with our hosts. Then the next morning it was off to home. this was a great trip and some good memories came out of it. This was the first of many trips that baby Angel and Comz will be going on for our time here.

Let me know if I forgot anything. I love you both. Mwah...

Angel's Second Shots

Today is Angels four month birthday and what better way to celebrate than to go to a doctors appointment. It started by daddy having to wake her up from her nap. She did not like being woke up and then when we arrived in the doctors office at Balboa, it was like she knew when she was because she got fussy right away. Her appointment started with a trip to the scale. She weighed in at 15 pounds and 5 ounces. She is 62 centimeters long. Then off to the room for the physical part and shots. Every time mommy would lay her down on the she would start crying right away. The student pediatrician started with the checks and said everything looked good. Then it was the real doctors time to do his checks. Poor Angel spent a lot of time laying on the table. Finally the doctors were do with all their checks and everything is great. All of a sudden three corpsmen( Navy's equivalent to a nurse)  carrying the three injections and one liquid to be taken orally. Time for mommy to video me getting my injections. Wah wah wah not only are they giving me my shots they are holding my legs down on the side of the table. Whheeeww, now it is time to go home and rest. but not until after mommy goes in and gets her flu shot too. Ha ha ha. Now I am happy because mommy gets to feel the injections like I do. Pray for me that I will not have any side effects from my injections.

Kaylani's First Birthday Celebration

So this weekend we headed to Ontario California. It’s a two hour drive from our home in San Diego. The reason for the trip was our friend’s daughter’s first birthday. The birthday girl’s name is Kaylani and she is the cutest little thing.   The party was at John’s Incredible Pizza. You would think it’s a just a pizza place but it was a lot more than that. There were rides, games and pizza. I drove the bumper cards, got on a frog hopper which basically lifts you up in the air and drops you back down. There is a funny video on facebook of me and my friends riding the frog hopper if you can find it. I even got to play musical shares but alas I lost. We ate a lot of food again and again. It was a lot of fun.

Our Pets

                                                        Koko and Latte
                                                                     Puti and Railey
                                                                     puppies
                                                                 New owner of Puti

Our first dog's name is Koko, a black poodle from Cebu Philippines. My first encounter with her was when I started to chat with her owner and instantly fell in love with her. I just had to have her for my own.I took me three days for the owner to bring her to my house in Cebu City. I was so excited so actually see her for the first time in person. When she finally arrived to the house she was everything that I thought she would be. I was so very happy to have her as my own. The next dog added to the family was Latte, a Shih Tzu terrier mix. We gave him that name because he looked like the drink latte. We decided to get him because Koko was getting lonely at home by herself. We found his original own by talking to Koko's vet in Tagbilaran City. When we went to the owners house, we left with him that same day. They were so happy to be together. They live together with Mama and Papa in Hanopol. The next dog we got was after Comely arrived here in the US. Her name was Puti, a white and peach french poodle. She was so cute as a puppy. Then she started to grow up and her attitude started to change. She would not listen to us and she would not stop barking for anything. So we decided to get Railey, another white and peach french poodle. To no avail she did not change her attitude. We thought maybe if she had babies she might change, but that did not even work. She had 4 healthy puppies that we gave up for adoption. we started to talk to our friends about someone taking Puti from us. We found the perfect home for her at our friends house in Ontario, CA. Now Railey is living here with us now. He is happy, but he is a little jealous of baby Angel. He is getting used to her now and I think he will protect her from strangers. I think they will be good together. We will keep you posted on the progress of both Baby Angel and Railey. Stay tuned for more exciting updates in the family...

Veteran's Day

Today is the last Veteran's Day that I will have while on active duty. Finally after almost 20 years of service to our great nation it is my time to retire. I hope that everybody is out and supporting our troops both home and abroad. May God bring them all home safe and may the families continue to be strong in their support of their loved one. Be strong my fellow service members and Veterans on this great day. May God shine down on all of us.

This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave. ~ Elmer Davis

Trick or Treat 2010

On Halloween 2010 we traveled up the coast to Ontario, CA to spend it with our friends Riza, Garret, and baby Kaylani. This is the second time my wife has ever experienced Halloween as they do not celebrate Halloween in the Philippines. We went to Ontario Mills shopping mall and handed out candy while we were dressed in out costumes. My wife was a sexy Indian Princess, Baby Angel was a lady bug even though she slept most of the time, and I was Dionysus  the ancient Greek God of the grape harvest, wine making, of ritual madness and ecstasy. It was a great time seeing all the kids being safe and collecting candy from all the stores in the mall.

Angel's Birth

One day late in July was a very special day for us. The arrival of the most precious thing in the whole world. It was baby Angel's birth. After 22 hours of labor she was finally here in the world. She weighed 6 pounds and 7 ounces, She was 20 inches  long, had dark brown hair, dark gray eyes, and light colored skin.
